A modular and durable wallet, elegantly designed for a minimal footprint.
The origin of the Compct. project was to create a gift for family, practicing my skill in CAD-modeling and utilizing 3D-printers.
I was inspired to create a wallet, as other members of Het Beun Collectief were at the time individually creating different wallets after a running joke. It was a, “hold my beer, ill show you something better” situation, pushing me to create something more elegant, compact and sustainable.
Inspiration was quickly found in the simplicity of the ridge wallet, which was compact and minimalistic. I modelled a standard credit card, and set the requirement that the wallet should refrain from being any broader than the footprint of this card. The final design indeed housed this compact and minimalistic structure, consisting of two interlocking halves held together by an elastic band.
For this project, I independently managed the full design cycle, from concept to final assembly. Since I was the only stakeholder, I utilized this opportunity to gain experience and strengthen my skills in CAD modeling, prototyping, and precision manufacturing.
Compct. is currently being tested throughout daily life by multiple individuals.
After experiencing real-world use for a year, I intend to further develop Compct.02 to further solidify the design for sustainability and durability.
